Annie Chen's "Guardians" album release
Vocalist, composer and bandleader Annie Chen celebrates the release of her 3rd album, out on February 23. “Guardians” is a 2022-born jazz and improvised music septet featuring top-tier musicians from diverse backgrounds, including Chinese, Brazilian, Japanese, Korean, Swiss, American and Malaysian. Centered around the suite titled “Guardians”, the band critically examines humanity’s impact on the planet and animal life, delving into the complex relationship between humans and nature. Through thematic and sometimes theatrical compositions, the band navigates the drama of modern society, addressing crises, loss and the potential for hope. Join us in exploring the global perspectives woven into the fabric of Annie Chen Guardians’ explosive sound – a powerful narrative on climate change and cultural unity.
